NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy has opened the registration window for the Short Service Commission (SSC) for courses commencing January 2026 onwards at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. Eligible candidates can fill out the Indian Navy SSC application form 2025 through the official website, joinindiannavy.gov.in.

The last date to register for the Indian Navy Recruitment 2025 is February 25. “Applications are invited from eligible unmarried men and unmarried women candidates for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) for course commencing Jan 2026 onwards at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala,” the official notice said.

As per the official notice, candidates selected will be offered a short service commission for an initial period of 12 years, which can be extended by up to 2 years, depending on service requirements, performance, medical eligibility, and the candidate's willingness. This recruitment drive will fill up 270 posts in the organisation.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on the normalised marks from their qualifying degree, using the formulae available on the official Join Indian Navy website. A merit list will be prepared based on the SSB marks for all entries, subject to the availability of vacancies and medical clearance for each entry. “Candidates declared fit in the medical examination would be appointed as per availability of vacancies in the entry,” the official notice read.

Indian Navy Recruitment 2025: Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Indian Navy Recruitment 2025 are given below.

  • Candidates who have completed their graduation or post-graduation, or are in the final year, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA are eligible to apply.
  • The university must be established by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or recognised as an educational institution under the UGC Act, 1956; IIT Act, 1961; AICTE Act, 1987; NITSER Act, 2007; or IIIT Act, 2014. This includes institutions declared as deemed universities or autonomous universities.
  • Candidates who have obtained an engineering degree with at least 60% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA from a foreign university, college, or institution can also apply.
  • The institution must be recognised by the Government of India for engineering degrees, or candidates must hold an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) under the AIU Act, 1973.

Indian Navy Recruitment 2025: Probation period

As per the official notice, the probation period for SSC (NAIC) officers is three years, while for officers in other branches and cadres, it is two years. It begins from the date of grant of the rank of Sub Lieutenant and continues for three years for SSC (NAIC) officers and two years for officers in other branches/cadres, or until the completion of initial training, whichever is later.
