JEE Advanced 2018 starts; About 1,64,822 candidates to appear for exam

NEW DELHI, MAY 20: Under the aegis of JAB, IIT Kanpur is conducting JEE Advanced 2018 on May 20 in online mode for first time. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is the gateway for admission into the 23 IITs. To be eligible for Advanced, candidates had to qualify in JEE Main which was held on April 8, 15 and 16. This year, as many as 231024 candidates have qualified to appear for JEE Advanced. Out of these qualified candidates, only 1, 64, 822 have registered for JEE Advanced 2018. 

The entrance exam is being held across multiple exam centres in 155 cities across India and 6 cities abroad. These centres have been divided into zones which candidates had to choose at the time of filling the registration form. The seven zones of JEE Advanced exam centres are - IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee.

The exam is online and has two papers which are mandatory. Subjects covered are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each paper will have a duration of 3 hours and will be held from 9 am to 12 noon for Paper I and from 2 to 5 pm for Paper II.

What to keep in mind while appearing for JEE Advanced?

The exam conducting authorities has released certain rules and regulation that every candidates, appearing for the entrance exam have to follow. According to the authorities, candidates are not allowed to carry mobile phones, bluetooth, earphones, smart/digital/programmable watches, microphones, pager, health band or any other electronic gadgets, any printed/blank/hand written paper, log table, writing pad, scale, geometry/pencil‐ box, pouch, calculator, pen drives, electronic pen, wallet, handbag, goggles or similar such things along with them to the examination center.

Not only this, candidates are also advised not to wear charm/tabeez, items containing metals such as ring, bracelet, earrings, nose pin, chain/necklace, pendants, badge, brooch, hair pin, hair band, clothes with full sleeves or big buttons. Students appearing for the entrance exam are suggested to wera wear open footwear like chappals and sandals.

Any candidate found violating any of the above mentioned rules and regulations at any stage of the examination, it will lead to the cancellation of his/her candidature.

Dates to keep track of after exam concludes

After the exam concludes, candidates have to keep a track on dates on which OMR sheet, answer key and result will be declared. The exam conducting body will release the ORS and scanned responses in online mode on May 22. In case, if any candidates find any discrepancy in the sheet can send it for review till May 25. On May 29, 2018 the provisional answer key will be released. The authorities will publish the final answer key after evaluating the feedback on May 30. IIT Kanpur will declare the result of the exam on June 10.
