Almost all entrance exams have been postponed or rescheduled after the country went into a lockdown on March 24 to control the spread of COVID-19 or Coronavirus. JEE Advanced is another national level entrance examination which has to be postponed keeping the current circumstances in mind.
JEE Advanced, or the Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced, is the common entrance examination for admissions to the undergraduate courses in engineering offered at 23 Indian Institutes of Technology, or IITs. Each year it is organised by a different IIT. This year, the examination will be organised by IIT Delhi.
JEE Advanced 2020 was originally scheduled to be held on May 17 after the JEE Main results were announced in the last week of April. However, JEE Main has also been postponed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The top 2,50,000 JEE Main 2020 qualified students will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced.
In normal circumstances, the result of JEE Main would have been announced on April 30 had the exam been conducted on April 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11 as previously scheduled. However, the entire timeline has been disrupted due to the unavoidable circumstances.
