NEW DELHI: Good news for engineering aspirants who cleared Class 12 exam in 2022 and could not appear in JEE Advanced exam last year. Candidates who registered for the JEE Advanced 2021 and were absent for both the papers are eligible to “directly appear for JEE Advanced 2022”. According to the JEE Mains 2022 information brochure, the NTA has announced relaxation in criteria as a special case for JEE Advanced 2022.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had announced to conduct Joint Entrance Examination Mains (JEE Mains 2022) in April and May. JEE Mains 2022 eligibility criteria and information brochure are also available on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will conduct the JEE Advanced 2022 on July 3, 2022. The JEE Advanced 2022 registration process will begin at jeeadv.ac.in on June 8 and conclude by June 14.

The NTA has announced the relaxation in JEE Advanced 2022 eligibility criteria as a one-time measure due to the COVID-19 pandemic for those who passed the Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2020 and 2021 and successfully registered for JEE Advanced 2021 but did not appear.

These candidates must, however, register for the JEE Advanced 2022 in the online registration portal and pay the registration fee. Further, these candidates would be considered in addition to and not as part of the total number of candidates who would qualify from JEE Main 2022 for appearing in JEE Advanced 2022.

Aspirants who want to take admission in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) can know the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2022 on the official website jeeadv.ac.in.

JEE Advanced 2022: Relaxation in eligibility criteria

Candidates who appeared in Class 12 exam in 2020 for the first time are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2022 provided they satisfy the following two criteria.

  • The candidate should have appeared only once for JEE Advanced, either in the year 2020 or 2021; or, have not appeared in any paper in both JEE (Advanced) 2020 and JEE (Advanced) 2021.

  • These candidates should appear or should have appeared in JEE Main 2022 and meet the cut-off score of the top 2,50,000 successful candidates, including all categories, for qualifying for JEE Advanced 2022 in their respective category.

  • No candidate will be allowed to appear in JEE (Advanced) more than two times.
