JEE Main 2018 to be conducted tomorrow

NEW DELHI, APRIL 7: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct JEE Main 2018 entrance exam for Paper I (pen and paper mode) and Paper II on April 8; the computer-based test for Paper I will be conducted on April 15 & 16. Paper II, however, will be conducted in pen and paper mode only. Paper I will conducted in the morning session (9.30 am -12.30 pm) and Paper II in afternoon session (2.00 am -5.00 pm). Both papers will be of 3 hours duration. Scores of JEE Main Paper I are used for admission to B.Tech programmes, while Paper II scores are used for admission to B.Arch/B.Planning programmes.

On exam day, candidates are recommended to bring along their admit cards and reach the exam centre at least 2 ½ hours in advance to complete frisking and registration formalities. Candidates must remember that once exam commences, no candidate will be allowed inside the exam hall.

Exam Day Guidelines

Apart from bringing their admit cards and reaching the test centre in time, candidates must remember following guidelines

  • Any kind of baggage is not allowed inside the exam exam
  • Electronic gadgets, log tables, textual material, or any other printed or written material aren’t allowed inside the exam hall. If a candidate is found to be in possession of any of these items, the candidature could be debarred from the admission process.
  • Tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks aren’t allowed. However, diabetic patients may carry their sugar tablets, fruits (banana, apple, etc.), and transparent water bottle. Packed foods aren’t allowed.
  • PwD candidates must bring along a copy of their PwD certificate in the prescribed format.
  • Ball pens will be issued inside the exam hall, so candidate needn’t bring any pen/ ball pens with them

Exam Pattern

As per the official exam pattern of JEE Main 2018, Paper I will be of 3 hours duration and include multiple-choice questions from three sections – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each section will contribute 30 questions for a total of 90 questions. For correct attempt, the candidate will be awarded 4 marks, while for wrong attempt 1 mark will be deducted.

Paper II will also be of 3 hours duration, but objective-type questions will be asked from Mathematics and General Aptitude; the paper will also have a drawing test to evaluate drawing and sketching capabilities of the student. In total 82 questions are asked, 30 from Mathematics, 50 from General Aptitude and 2 from Drawing. For objective-type questions, marking scheme is same as in Paper I, but each drawing question carries 70 marks.

Declaration of Result

The result of JEE Main Paper I will be announced on April 30. Before that authorities will release the answer keys and OMR sheets on April 24-27. Candidates can use the answer key for calculating probable scores before declaration of result. The answer keys can be challenged till April 27. Candidates who qualify in JEE Main 2018 will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2018, which will be held in complete online mode on May 20.

As for Paper II, results will be announced on May 31.
