NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination- Main (JEE Main 2024) session 1 entrance exam will be held from January 24 to February 1. This year, a record number of around 12.3 lakh candidates have registered for JEE Mains 2024 January exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE engineering entrance exam for admission to BE, BTech courses in two sessions - January and April. Session 1 will be held from January 24 to February 1 and session 2 from April 1 to 15.

The correction window was closed recently and the NTA is expected to issue the JEE Main exam city intimation slip by the second week of January, as per the schedule. The JEE Main admit card 2024, on the other hand, will be issued three days prior to the commencement of the exam.

For the January session, JEE recorded a highest of 12.3 lakh registration. Out of which 11,48,088 students have opted for English, as per the Times of India report. The number of students who chose Hindi as medium of question paper has reduced from 56,924 in 2023 to 40,256.

However, the number of candidates who have opted for Gujarati and Tamil have slightly increased. This year, 16,731 applicants have chosen to give their exam in Gujarati and 14,636 have preferred Tamil. The NTA conducts JEE Mains exam 2024 in 13 languages - English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Maharashtra has surpassed Uttar Pradesh this year with 1,62,624 lakh registration. Followed by Andhra Pradesh at 1,34,703 registration and Telangana at 1,26,746, the TOI report said. Notably, only 95,411 candidates applied for the JEE exam from Telangana last year.

Uttar Pradesh, which recorded the highest of 1,45,295 applications last year, saw 1,25,272 registration this year.

The TOI reported that the number of female registrations have marginally increased to 4,06,486 and male candidates to 8,23,842.
