JEE Main 2025 Question Paper: Factors affecting difficulty level

JEE Main Question Paper 2025 difficulty level depends on several factors. Some of the factors are given below.

  • Exam in Multiple Shifts: The JEE Main exam is conducted over multiple days and shifts. Due to this, the difficulty level of the question paper may vary from day to day. Hence, to ensure fairness, the NTA calibrates the difficulty level for each day and the normalized cut-off scores are announced.
  • Level of Conceptual Knowledge: The JEE Main exam tests not only theoretical knowledge but also the conceptual understanding of candidates. If advanced-level concept questions are included in any shift of the exam, it can affect the overall difficulty level of the JEE Main 2025 question paper.
  • Section-Specific Variations: The JEE Main exam consists of three sections: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, with each section carrying 25 questions. If one section is particularly difficult while the others are easier, it can impact the JEE Main overall difficulty.
  • Changes in Syllabus or Exam Pattern: Any changes in the JEE Main syllabus or exam pattern also affect the difficulty of the exam. This year, NTA has made some changes in the JEE Main exam pattern according to which there will not be optional questions in section B anymore.
  • Questions Framing: The way the questions are framed can also have an impact on the JEE-Main difficulty level. Questions that are poorly phrased or contain complicated vocabulary should be carefully interpreted because they can cause misunderstandings and make things more difficult. Similarly, if the diagrams are complicated or confusing, it could make answering questions more challenging, leading to increased difficulty.
