Many questions were theoretical. While the distribution of topics appeared balanced, some chapters were underrepresented or missing.
Key topics like Mechanics, Waves, and Thermodynamics were adequately covered, while Electrostatics, Optics, and Mechanics had a stronger presence. Conversely, there were fewer questions from Modern Physics and Magnetism, and topics like Alternating Currents (AC) and Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) were absent. Instrument-related questions were not included.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the first shift of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 January 28 exam at 9 am. Shift 1 exam will be conducted till 12 noon.
The National Testing Agency has issued instructions to attempt each section in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 session 1 paper 1 for BE, BTech programmes. The JEE Main question paper 2025 has two sections - Section A having 20 questions carrying 80 marks and section B containing 5 compulsory questions carrying 20 marks.

Tagging Ayodhya Police, a JEE Main 2025 candidate complained of route closure near Ayodhya and asked about a facility to reach the examination centre through Katra. As per JEE Main 2025 marking scheme, candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct answer. Negative marking has been introduced this year, as per which one mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.
Many candidates reported difficulties in reaching the JEE Mains 2025 exam centres in Prayagraj due to the huge congregation of devotees in the Mahakumbh Mela. NTA has moved the exam centres of such students to the nearby city Varanasi for today' exam.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) rescheduled the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 exam for 114 candidates due to technical snag in a Karnataka centre, Talent, (TC code- 40086), No. 3, Belmar Estate, Nagasandra Main Rd, Amaravathi Layout, Nagara Bavi, Nalagadderanahalli, Peenya Bengaluru. The JEE Main 2025 session 1 exam will now be held today or tomorrow for the affected candidates.
Along with the JEE Main admit card, candidates will be required carry the following documents to the examination centres.
NTA has not issued any specific JEE Main dress code for male and female candidates, however, students are advised to avoid wearing caps, scarves, accessories, electronic devices, or any other metallic items. Wearing any kind of jewellery or ornaments is not allowed inside the exam hall. Candidates are advised to wear simple and comfortable clothes. Candidates must avoid clothes that have many pockets and any metallic items attached to them.

Along with the exam-day guidelines, the NTA has informed candidates about the JEE Main 2025 dress code and things to carry. It is mandatory for the students to carry their JEE Main 2025 admit card along with a valid photo ID proof, self-declaration form, and non-Aadhaar declaration.

Compensatory time for PwD, PwBD candidates of 20 minutes for a one-hour examination will be given to those who are eligible for scribe.

7 am - The JEE Main exam centres will open the entry gates.
7 am to 8:30 am - The NTA will allow entry inside the exam hall. Candidates will have to go through the admit card, and photo ID verification process, biometric registration, record of manual attendance by invigilator.
They will be required to provide one passport size photograph, same as the one uploaded in the JEE Main application form 2025. One passport size photograph will be pasted on the attendance sheet at the centre. Photocopies or images stored in mobile phones will not be accepted.
Candidates will be allowed to carry the documents, transparent bottle and ball point pen inside the exam hall.
8.30 am to 8.50 am - Instructions will be given by the invigilators on the conduct of the exam. Students are required to find their roll number and get seated on time.
8.50 am - Candidates will be allowed to log in to the JEE Main exam and read instructions.
9 am to 12 noon - The JEE Main January shift 1 exam will commence and end at 12 noon.

As per JEE Main 2025 exam pattern, the question paper will comprise 75 multiple-choice questions divided into three sections – physics, chemistry, and mathematics – carrying a total of 300 marks.
