NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has been the number one choice of the engineering aspirants for years now. Notably, the computer science and engineering (CSE) course offered at IIT-B remains the most-preferred programme with all 72 JEE toppers opting for the institute this year as well.

The national-level engineering entrance exam, Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main 2025), is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The top 2.5 lakh candidates who qualify the JEE 2025 exam will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2025, which will be administered by one of the IITs. IIT Bombay CSE placements

The graduating computer science and engineering students struggled to get placed last year due to the market uncertainty. The impact could be seen on BTech Computer Science and Engineering as well. IITs are 'cautiously optimistic' about phase 1 of the IIT placement drive 2024-25 as the institute see more number of recruiters.

Out of the 930 students who signed up for placements last year, 275 students were from the computer science department. Of which, 254 took part in the on-campus placement drive and 230 got placed.

Despite the low placements, the institute saw a 7.7% increase in the average salary package, to Rs 23.50 lakh per annum. Moreover 22 graduates were offered salary packages above Rs 1 crore and 78 received international offers.

From this year onwards, the IITs have decided not to reveal the salary packages received by the students to avoid the ‘unhealthy competition and to reduce unnecessary stress’. The IIT Bombay placements 2024-2025 is ongoing
