NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main cut-offs at National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for the BTech in Civil Engineering programme saw consistent demand for NIT, Tiruchirappalli over the last three years. This is demonstrated by the fact that in 2024, 2023, and 2022, the institute had the lowest JEE Main closing ranks for civil engineering programmes.
The counselling for admission to BTech programmes at NITs is conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The JoSSA release the JEE Main opening and closing ranks for BTech admissions, and candidates secure admission based on their JEE Main ranks, number of seats available and other factors.
The NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2025 exam in two sessions. The first session is scheduled from January 22 to 31, 2025, while the second session is tentatively set for April 1 to 8, 2025.
For admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the top 2.5 lakh applicants who pass JEE Main 2025 will be able to take the JEE Advanced 2025 exam. The JEE Advanced 2025 is scheduled to be held on May 18.
JEE Main 2025 Cut off for Civil Engineering: Last three years trend analysis
The demand for civil engineering graduates is reflected in the trend over the last three years, which shows a fluctuation in cut-off for BTech Civil Engineering programmes across different NITs.
- In 2024, the institute with the highest closing rank was NIT Nagaland with a closing rank of 57,171 while the institute with the lowest closing rank was NIT Tiruchirappalli with a closing rank of 18,965.
- In 2023, the Institute with the highest closing rank was NIT Mizoram with a closing rank of 58,131 and the institute with the lowest closing rank was NIT Tiruchirappalli with a closing rank of 20,873.
- In 2022, the Institute with the highest closing rank was again NIT Mizoram with a closing rank of 58,024 and the Institute with the lowest closing rank was NIT Tiruchirappalli with a closing rank of 19,611.
The NIT cut-off analysis over the last three years shows that NIT Tiruchirappalli consistently has the lowest closing rank across all three years. As competition among students for various engineering disciplines, such as Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI and ML), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), is increasing, so too has the JEE Main cut-off for civil engineering programme.
