Some students reported issues in the JEE Main 2026 Chemistry paper held on April 5 (Session 2). NTA reviewed the matter and asked students not to pay any challenge fee earlier. Now, NTA has checked the provisional answer key and released the updated version on jeemain.nta.nic.in. Students can check it and raise challenges as per the rules. The agency has also apologised for the inconvenience.
NTA JEE Main session 2 exam for 11.23 lakh candidates was conducted across 566 centres in 318 cities between April 2 and April 8. Overall, the session 2 exam was rated 'easy to moderate' with students finding maths challenging.
NTA has released the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 answer key for BTech and BE paper. Here are the steps given below to challenge the provisional answer key.
For BE and BTech paper 1, around 11.06 lakh candidates registered in India and 4,229 abroad. The attendance was about 93%, with around 97% Aadhaar authentication.
For BArch and BPlanning paper 2, about 54,953 candidates registered in India and 270 abroad. The attendance stood at nearly 73%, with around 97% Aadhaar authentication.

The online application process for Session 2 was held from February 1 to February 25, 2026. Following requests from candidates, the application window was reopened on March 12 and 13, 2026. Admit cards were released in phases on March 29 and April 1, 2026.
The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 provisional answer key link has been made active on jeemain.nta.nic.in. Candidates can access and download their provisional answer key, response sheet, and question papers by logging in with their application number and date of birth/password.
