Try NowThe National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains 2026) results for admission to engineering courses on April 20. Once the results are declared, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct the counselling for admission to top National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), including other colleges.

As per the JEE Mains cut-offs for previous years, top engineering colleges such as NIT Trichy , Surathkal, Warangal, and Rourkela are expected to have high percentiles cut-offs for admission to computer science engineering programmes .
While the newer NITs and IIITs will offer relatively lower percentile cut-offs and candidates between ranks 20,000 and 30,000 may stand a chance to get admissions.

Aiming for NITs? Check admission trends
NIT Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, including others were established after 2010, and are newer than NIT Trichy, Surathkal and Warangal.
Whereas, IIIT Bhopal, Ranchi, Kalyani, Sonepar, Dharward, Una are considered newer IIITs in the country as compared to IIIT Hyderabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, and many more.
The trends show that the closing rank for the newer NITs ranges from 25,000 to 70,000 or above for general category candidates. While some branches in Northeast and remote NITs may close even beyond 80,000 to 1,00,000 rank in the JoSAA rounds.

The closing ranks for engineering courses at 10 new NITs for 2025 are given below. Candidates aiming for these colleges can expect slight changes in the admission cut-offs compared to the previous year, as per trends.
