JEE Main BTech CSE cut-offs for students of northeast, UTs drop in 2 years; over 2,000 seats reserved in NITs
CSAB-NEUT scheme reserved seats for students of 8 north-eastern states, 5 UTs, which do not have engineering colleges or lack facilities for education in specific fields of technical education.

NEW DELHI: Attention engineering aspirants from the north-east region! The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will be conducting a separate counselling round through the CSAB-North Eastern States and Some of Union Territories (NEUT) scheme for candidates from the region. The board said that approximately 2,000 seats are expected to be reserved under state quota for the NIT system in the north-east states, in addition to 740 seats under the CSAB-NEUT category.

The government scheme reserves seats for students of UTs, north-east region in engineering, architecture, pharmacy, technology courses offered at AICTE recognised institutions and Universities for North-Eastern and UTs.
Students belonging to 8 north east states - Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura - and 5 Union Territories - Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Ladakh, “which do not have engineering colleges or lack facilities for education in specific fields of technical education”, will be allocated seats through the CSAB-NEUT scheme, the board said.
The CSAB-NEUT counselling process , which includes registration, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, is different from that of JoSAA and CSAB counselling held for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs. The board is yet to publish the CSAB-NEUT information bulletin for 2025 admission, however, the registration is expected to begin in June, as per previous year’s schedule.
CSAB-NEUT: JEE Main CSE cut-offs for students of NE, UTs
The board clarified that the National Testing Agency (NTA) and CSAB are two independent boards. The former conducts the exam for JEE Main and declares the Common Rank List (JEE Main CRL), based on which, the latter, CSAB, will allocate seats for engineering and architecture.
Last two-year’s category-wise CSAB-NEUT opening and closing ranks for students of north-eastern states and UTs for computer science and engineering (BTech CSE).
