NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Education will hold a review meeting to decide on the schedule of the remaining sessions of JEE Main 2021 and to decide whether to conduct NEET-UG 2021 on August 1, as per PTI report. The ministry will review the current pandemic situation and will then decide about these entrance examinations.

The review meeting is being held after the announcement of cancellation of Class 12 board exams by the central government on June 1. Class 12 results will now be compiled by CBSE as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner. Since the authorities have given a clarification about Class 12 exams, it is likely that the ministry will announce its decision on JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 to lakhs of students who are registered to appear for the exams.

This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced it will conduct JEE Main 2021 four times (February/ March/ April/ May). Of the four sessions, the February and March sessions of JEE Main 2021 were successfully conducted as per schedule. However, the JEE Main 2021 April and May sessions were postponed due to the increasing COVID-19 cases.

JEE Advanced 2021, which was to be held on July 3, has also been postponed due to the spike in cases. This was done due to the postponement of the April and May sessions of JEE Mains 2021.

On conducting the NEET UG 2021, the authorities have announced the exam date as August 1. NEET registration was to start on May 1, however, it is yet to begin. It is also to be noted that the NEET 2021 portal was made live on June 2.

The ministry will also be deciding on the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET). It is also likely that the decision on CUCET 2021 will be made after the CBSE announces its alternative assessment criteria for Class 12 boards.
