The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates who will be appearing in the Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main 2026) session 1 exams from tomorrow. The testing agency reminded candidates to download their JEE Mains 2026 admit cards and be braced for the college entrance test.

The testing agency will publish the admit cards for the January 28 and 29 exams shortly. The JEE Main hall ticket 2026 for the January 21 to 24 exams has been issued on the official NTA website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Candidates can download the NTA JEE Main 2025 admit card by using their valid JEE Main application number and password. As per the schedule, the JEE Main 2026 first shift will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, while the second shift will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm.

While downloading the JEE Main 2026 admit card, candidates must make sure the QR code and barcode are visible clearly while downloading. Candidates will have to bring their photo ID and online application form in the admit card for verification purposes.

Recently, the testing agency has rescheduled the JEE Main session 1 exam 2026 in West Bengal due to Saraswati Puja. NTA will soon assign new exam dates for the West Bengal candidates. This year, the JEE Main exam cities 2026 have been increased from 284 to 323.

JEE Main 2026 paper will comprise 300 marks, with a marking scheme of +4 for each correct answer, -1 for each incorrect response, and zero for unattempted questions.

  • Admit Card downloaded from the NTA Website (a clear, preferably colour printout on A4 size paper).

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued the advisory for the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2026 (JEE Mains) session 1 for registered candidates aiming for admission to BTech courses at various technical institutes. 

"Dear Candidate, We hope that you have downloaded the Admit Card and are now fully prepared to appear for the JEE (Main) 2026 Session 1 Examination on the date, shift, course and venue of the test centre as indicated on the Admit Card downloaded from the NTA website https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/," the NTA said. 

The testing agency also reminded candidates to be aware of the date of examination, shift timings, venue, reporting time, gate closing time through their JEE Mains 2026 admit cards.

JEE Mains 2026 exams from tomorrow; items prohibited inside test centre

Candidates appearing for JEE Main 2026 should not to carry certain items inside the exam hall. Only the admit card, a valid photo identity, and the stationery specified by the NTA are allowed. All other electronic devices, personal belongings, and restricted materials must be left outside.

  • Mobile phones, smart watches, or any other electronic communication devices.
  • Calculators and other electronic gadgets.
  • Books, notebooks, and loose sheets of paper.
  • Bags, wallets, and purses.
  • Jewellery, metallic items, or any personal accessories are not permitted by the exam centre.
  • Any other items not specifically mentioned as allowed in the NTA instructions.

NTA has clarified that calculators and other electronic devices will not be provided or permitted in the exam hall. Candidates should rely on rough work sheets provided at the centre for calculations. Bringing personal calculators may lead to disqualification or denial of entry.

JEE Mains 2026: Check timeline for exam day

Candidates seeking admission to engineering programmes will appear in the JEE Mains 2026 written test tomorrow in dual shifts. Here is the timeline of exam day which includes closing gate, opening gate timings, other important instructions.

JEE Mains 2026: Total marks

The JEE Main 2026 dress code for male candidates is as follows. 

  • Clothes should not have large buttons, and shoes with thick soles are not allowed
  • Candidates must not wear clothing that contains metallic items, as metallic items cause problems during frisking and should be avoided.

IIT Hyderabad AI cut-off rises; CSE closing ranks dip

Over the past two years, IIT Hyderabad’s AI closing ranks have gone up for open, SC, and ST categories, while BTech CSE ranks have slightly dropped.
