JGU, UTokyo hold higher education conclave 2025 to outline new phase of academic cooperation

OP Jindal Global University (JGU) hosted the India-Japan Higher Education Conclave 2025 in New Delhi with a visiting delegation from the University of Tokyo (UTokyo). The six-day programme is being held across Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru under the theme “Future of Global Education: India and Japan as Leaders of Knowledge and Innovation”.

As per the institute, the conclave marks a new phase in academic cooperation between the two institutions and broader India–Japan higher education engagement. The conclave is designed to outline long-term plans for teaching, research and internationalisation between the two countries.

Over the course of the visit, the UTokyo delegation will take part in policy dialogues, university interactions, regulatory meetings and stakeholder discussions. Sessions will examine joint and dual degree models, short-term mobility pathways, faculty exchange, co-taught courses and hybrid learning formats. Both universities are also assessing opportunities for comparative research and collaborative projects across disciplines.

Focus on academic pathways and joint programmes

UTokyo representatives shared their institutional priorities related to global engagement, mobility and international academic programmes. The discussions at JGU covered possible structures for student pathways, integrated programmes and joint initiatives that allow learners to navigate both systems and participate in shared research activity.

The UTokyo delegation will complete its India Tour on December 12, 2025. The institute states that the visit is expected to conclude with a roadmap outlining the next phase of collaboration between JGU and the University of Tokyo and the wider direction of India–Japan higher-education cooperation.

JGU highlights scope for mobility and joint initiatives

The high-level delegation from the UTokyo was led by Kaori Hayashi, Executive Vice President in charge of Global and Diversity Affairs at the University of Tokyo; along with Yujin Yaguchi, Vice President (Global Education) and Director of the Centre for Global Education (GlobE); and Satsuki Shioyama, Project Research Associate at GlobE.
