NEW DELHI, JULY 30: Jindal Stainless Foundation is launching its Stain-Less Roads programme to impart road safety habits among school-going children in Delhi with a larger aim of bringing down fatalities in road accidents. The programme will teach road safety habits to the students in three phases: through awareness classes, first aid programs and by organizing bicycle safety drives.
It aims to bring about attitudinal changes and safety commitment in children, and eventually in their parents, through intensive and continuous involvement in various road safety-related activities. Initially, the project will run throughout the year and target children of 8th and 9th standards.
At least 20 schools, both government and private, will come under the programme through activities such as the formation of road safety clubs. The programme will also conduct training of trainers’ programme, theatre, music and art workshops for teachers and orientation programme for the school transport drivers.
Emphasising on the need for such projects, Abhyuday Jindal, Director of Jindal Stainless said, “India records high fatalities from road accidents. Road accidents are the leading cause for the death of people under 35 years of age. ‘Project Stain-Less’ is not only aimed to increase road safety awareness, but also to impart knowledge among children in order to bring a transformation towards a better attitude and behaviour.”
Jindal Stainless Foundation will partner with International Road Federation, a Geneva-based not-for-profit organization, in the implementation of the project.
