NEW DELHI: The Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, M Jagadesh Kumar, on Wednesday said that the university will hold the JNUEE examination, whenever it would be safe for the students to appear for the examination.
He said in case of delay in the JNU entrance examination and admissions due to Covid-19, the university would make alterations in the academic calendar and will try to compensate for the lost times without affecting the academic tenacity.
We will conduct the JNU entrance examination whenever it is safe for students to write. If entrance is delayed due to COVID and if admission happens at later date, we'll surely adjust our academic calendar to take care of lost time without compromising academic rigor: JNU VC pic.twitter.com/jn8YZ2Qdgw

Kumar praised the Prime Minister’s decision of scrapping CBSE Class 12 exams for this year and called it a ‘pragmatic and rational decision’. He tweeted “The decision taken with regard to 12th standard exams is pragmatic and rational considering the fact that this COVID pandemic is a once in a century occurrence. The health and safety of students are of paramount importance to all of us.”

He advised that the higher institutes which offer admissions to undergraduate programmes based on Class 12 marks or those universities where entrance exams cannot be held because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation can devise appropriate procedures which are fair and transparent.
"We need to find optimal solutions rather than feel anxious about the challenges faced by the pandemic. Our Indian educational system is capable of meeting these challenges," Kumar added.
The admission to JNU is done through an entrance examination, Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE) which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The university has earlier stated that it will go ahead with the JNUEE exam this year and will later admit the students through the CUCET examination when it will be announced.
