JNU placement cell organises skill empowerment workshop for students

JNU’s skill empowerment workshop included discussions on effective communication, leadership and decision making.
NEW DELHI: The placement cell of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) organised a skill empowerment workshop for its on-campus students on Wednesday, a statement from the university said. The workshop, “Facing the Headhunters”, was aimed at equipping students with soft skills and upskilling them for the group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) rounds of the placement process.
Professors at the university, Vaishna Narang and Sandesha Rayapa, were the experts in charge of the session. They also emphasised the relevance of time management, ways to choose career goals and ways to overcome challenges in the session.

The statement issued by the university said that the workshop began with a discussion, which highlighted the importance of effective communication, leadership and decision making skills. Their utility in GD and PI rounds was also apprised to the students.

Post this, the experts delivering the session conducted a one-to-one GD and PI round for all the students attending the session. The insights shared with all the students proved beneficial for them during this, the university officials said.
In the final session, a poster making competition was organised to test the effective communication, creativity, time management and teamwork capabilities of the students. This activity helped the students get a hang of the recruitment scenario. JNU placement cell’s deputy director Vaniki Joshi underlined the importance of the workshop and motivated the students.
