Join EURAXESS Science Slammer research competition in Bengaluru

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 25: Those interested in research, innovation and Europe, have a chance to witness researchers in motion and choose among the five researchers of India who are battling it out for the title of 'EURAXESS Science Slammer India 2018' in the LIVE finals being held in Bengaluru, on November 17.
EURAXESS Science Slam India is a competition open to all researchers starting with MA or MSc candidates to those working in universities, research institutes or private sector in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities, Life Sciences and Engineering of any nationality based in India. This competition is 6th in the series of EURAXESS Science Slam taking place in Brazil, China and India. It is annually organized by EURAXESS Worldwide, a networking tool supporting researchers to connect with Europe and strengthen European research and scientific cooperation around the world.
The competition has two stages, first being the 'Virtual' Pre-selection where candidates submit a short video in online mode, and second being the 'Live' Finals where the finalists will perform in front of the review panel and a mixed audience who will choose the winner. The winning prize this year is the EURAXESS Science Slammer title and a round trip to Europe to visit a research institute of the winner's choice in the European Union in 2019.
This year’s five finalists of EURAXESS Science Slammer India 2018 include Prabahan Chakraborty , a graduate Student at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bangalore for his research on ‘How does stress affect our brain, and how can we fight back?’ , Nidhi Rawat a PhD candidate at ICAR- Central Institute for Research on Buffalo, Hisar for ‘IVF Blabber: A journey of miracles’ , Charu Seth a PhD candidate at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai for her research proposal on ‘Hunny, We Shrunk The Circuits’, Gita Singh a PhD candidate at SVKM's NMIMS Sunandan Divatia School of Science, Mumbai for ‘Journey of a Capacitor to Supercapacitor’ , and Viraj R. Torseka r a PhD candidate at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for ‘Does the risk of mate-searching communication influence predator-prey space use strategies?’ . Those interested in participating in the event can register for free of cost till November 11. Accepted registrations will receive a confirmation letter from November 12 to 14. The participants will have to arrange for their travel and accommodation on their own. Besides choosing the first prize winner, the LIVE finals will provide a networking opportunity for researchers to mingle with like-minded people over snacks and refreshments.
