NEW Delhi, JUNE 16: Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2018 has commenced the counselling for admissions to the B.Tech and other engineering programmes at the IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs in online mode from June 15.. There will be a total of seven rounds; seat allotment for round 1 will be announced on June 27. The result of the seat allotment for all rounds will be announced online as per the dates given below.
To register, candidates have to use their JEE Main roll number and password. In case of JEE Advanced 2018-qualified candidates, they have to enter their JEE Advanced roll number and password for registration.
Before the actual allotment, two mock seat allotment rounds will also be held to give candidates an idea about the seat allotment process and kind of seats that might be offered to them based on entered choices. Result of Mock allotment 1 will be announced on June 19 and Mock Allotment 2 on June 24.
For admission to the IITs, JEE Advanced 2018 ranks will be considered while for admission to NIT+ institutes JEE Main 2018 ranks will be considered.

It may be noted that this year the number of seats has gone up to 11279, an increase of 291 seats from last year. In addition an additional 800 supernumerary seats also have been created for girl candidates to increase their representation in the IITs.
