KEA has specified different options for candidates who wish to leave their KEA-allotted seats.
- Candidates allotted seats through both MCC and KEA who want to join their MCC round 3 seat can select choice-4 without paying a penalty.
- Candidates who have already joined a KEA round 1 or round 2 seat but want to take their MCC counselling round 3 seat can cancel the KEA seat by paying a Rs 10,000 penalty.
- Candidates who want to join a seat allotted through another state's round 3 counselling or do not want the KEA round 3 seat can cancel it by paying a Rs 10,000 penalty.
- Choice-4 or cancellation must be completed by 12 noon on October 5.
Candidates who exit the KEA NEET UG counselling process through these options will not be eligible for subsequent rounds.
Retain Karnataka NEET UG seat allotment result 2026
Those who have joined a college allotted through MCC round 1 or round 2, received an MCC round 3 seat and have also been allotted a KEA round 3 seat can retain their KEA seat.
Such candidates must send an email to keauthority-ka@nic.in with the subject “Confirmation of My KEA Seat” by October 5, 12 noon. The email should mention their CET number, name and rank.
KEA said it will re-run the round 3 Karnataka NEET UG seat allotment after candidates exercise Choice-4 or cancel their seats. The move is aimed at making seats vacated by candidates who join MCC or other-state seats available to eligible candidates.
The re-run will be conducted using the options already entered by candidates. KEA said candidates will not be allowed to change their existing options.
After the re-run, provisional Round 3 results will be published, with candidates considered for possible upgradation to higher-preference seats, subject to seat availability and applicable allotment rules.
Once the provisional results of the re-run are announced, Choice-4 and seat cancellation will no longer be available. KEA will subsequently publish the final Karanataka NEET UG round 3 seat allotment results.

Candidates who surrender their seat after the publication of the final Round 3 results but before the last date for entering options for the stray vacancy round will have to pay a penalty.

- BDS: Rs 60,000
KEA said requests to surrender seats will not be entertained after the last date prescribed for entering options for the stray vacancy round. Such candidates will also be barred from participating in counselling for the next three years, and MCC will be informed.
