Karnataka postpones NMMS 2023 exam to January 7, 2024; exam pattern
The NMMS exam 2023 is held for the award of 1 lakh scholarships. The selected students are given a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum.

NEW DELHI: The Karnataka School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Council has postponed the Karnataka NMMS 2023 exam. The exam was earlier scheduled to be held on December 17 but now the council will conduct the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship test 2023 on January 7, 2024.

NMMS 2023 exam will have two sections – mental ability test (MAT) and scholastic abilities test (SAT). The MAT section will have 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). This section will test the verbal and non-verbal meta-cognitive abilities such as reasoning and critical thinking of the students. The questions in the test may be on analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure etc.
The SAT section will consist of 90 MCQs based on science, social studies and mathematics syllabus of Classes 7 and 8.
NMMS scheme
Under the NMMS scheme, the union government awards 1 lakh fresh scholarships annually to selected students from Class 9. The government also continues scholarships in Classes 10 to 12 if students meet the prescribed criteria. The selected students are given a scholarship of Rs 12,000 per annum.
Students appearing for the NMMS exam should be studying in state government, government-aided and local body schools and their family income should be less than Rs 3,50,000.

The students appearing for the NMMS 2023 exam should have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in Class 7 examination. Students belonging to SC and ST communities will be given 5% relaxation in qualifying marks.
