NEW DELHI: The Kerala government has approached the Supreme Court asking for more time to complete the admission process of BTech programmes in the state, as per a Onmanorama report.

The last date of the All India Council for Technical Education to complete the engineering admission process is October 25, thus the government has filed a suit in the court, the report said.

According to the report, the second list allotment for admission to BTech, Pharmacy programmes was expected to be released on Wednesday evening itself which was supposed to be released on October 19 as announced by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) of Kerala.

After the closure of the second list, students who secured admission in NITs and IITs are expected to reflect on their choices and available options as a result of which seats would get vacant in several government engineering colleges, the report said. These seats should be allocated to the next candidate in the list who, however, will lose the opportunity if the admissions are closed as per AICTE’s order, the report said.

The managements of several self-financing colleges are also worried about thousands of vacant seats due to the quick admission process, the report added.
