During the round of interview a panel of experts may question the candidates on some basic details like name, hobbies and subject of interests. The interview session shall be based on applying science concepts in real life situations wherein candidates will be checked and analyzed for their reaction to a certain situation. Listed below are some of the things you need to keep in mind while preparing for the interview-
KVPY Interview – Important Do’s
-
Be confident- Interview panel members will carefully observe your body language from the moment you enter the room. Remember that your body language can speak against you if not prepared thoroughly.
-
Be thoroughly prepared- Practice being comfortable at home. Ask your parents, siblings and teachers to ask you questions and master the art of answering them confidently. Look out for the questions asked in the interview in the previous years and practice answering them.
-
Maintain eye contact- Look at the whole panel of interviewers while answering the questions. Do not only look in the eyes of the person who puts the question.
-
Respect the panel- Remember that the interviewers will be senior faculties/researchers with great experience. They are aware of the qualities and characteristics a good KVPY fellow should possess. Be polite and humble.
-
Be an active listener- Pay attention to the speaker when they are speaking to you. Listen with an open mind and do not interrupt. Listen carefully to what they are asking and put your answer in context to the question only.
-
Accept if you don’t know- It’s better to accept that you don’t know the answer rather than building virtual walls around the question. Do not forget that the interviewer is educated enough to realize you don’t know the answer and trying to make it up. If someone from the panel tells or explains you the answer, thank them for the same.
