Candidates were required to fill up the NLU preferences when filling up the CLAT application form. Other than the score obtained in CLAT 2024 , the admission would be dependent on some other important factors such as seat matrix, reservation criteria and payment of fees. Aspirants should be aware of the important details concerning top NLUs to ensure they make it to the top college accepting CLAT scores.
Top NLUs Seat Matrix and Reservation Criteria
There are 23 participating National Law Universities participating in CLAT 2024. They offer a total of around 3200 seats for CLAT UG and over 1300 seats available for PG.
However, it’s also important to understand that not all of them are equally preferred by students. Some of the newer and lower ranked NLUs, such as DBRANLU Sonepat and NLU Tripura do not enjoy the same popularity as other top ranked NLUs.
Among the top NLUs, NLSIU Bengaluru offers the most number of seats. It offers 300 seats and 120 seats for its BA LLB course and LLM programmes respectively. In other top NLUs, the average number of seats is around 130-180 seats and around 50-100 seats for UG and PG respectively.
Another very important criterion for admission is the domicile reservation. All NLUs have a certain percentage of seats that are reserved for candidates belonging to the state in which that NLU is located. The domicile reservation has a significant bearing on the admission chances of students from outside the state.
