The announcement came when the government was responding to the division bench of Justices RD Dhanuka and RI Chagla on a petition by an ICSE student, seeking to quash May 28, 2021, state government notification on the CET. The notification says, “admissions to Class 11 or FYJC will be based on CET results, which in turn will be based on SSC syllabus,” as per a report of Times Now News.
According to the petitioner, the CET requirement for Maharashtra Class 11th admission 2021 is “discriminatory in nature”. This statement was made on the ground that the petitioner was not in a physical condition to appear for the CET and in the event of not appearing in it, might cost her admission in a good college. However, the state’s advocate Jyoti Chavan said that the dates for CET would only be announced after SSC results come out, the report added.
Earlier, Maharashtra education minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted, “For uniformity and comparability in #FYJC admissions and to ensure fair play for students across all boards, the state government will conduct a CET for all Std 10th students on an OPTIONAL basis around July-end or August first week.”
