Maharashtra invites applications for scholarship scheme for foreign universities: Report

NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra government has asked universities and colleges to inform students and ask them to apply for a scheme offering scholarships for admission to foreign universities, as per the Indian Express report. The last date to apply for the scholarships is October 18, 5 pm.
Interested students can apply for the scholarship scheme on the website of the Directorate of Technical Education - foreignscholarship2021.dtemaharashtra.gov.in

The Maharashtra government launched the scheme two years ago which grants scholarships to 20 meritorious students from the unreserved category who wish to study graduation, post-graduation or PhD in foreign universities, colleges or higher education institutions that have been ranked in the top 200 in the Times Higher Education or QS ranking, the report said.
Due to the pandemic situation, the scheme was not implemented the previous year, the report said.
According to the report, Kirankumar Bander, joint director, higher education department sent a letter to the colleges on October 8 stating that not only the students from the current academic year, but those who had taken admission in foreign universities last year can also apply for the scheme. However, their fee will be paid for this year only.
Only those students whose family income is not more than 8 lakh are eligible for the scholarship, the report said.

How to apply for the scholarship scheme
- Visit the official website of the technical education - foreignscholarship2021.dtemaharashtra.gov.in
- Click on the link - New Registration available on the left side of the home page
- Fill in the form with the required details and login with the registered username and password
- Mention the official documents for verification
- Take a printout of the application form
After applying for the scholarship online, students will have to take a copy of the form and documents mentioned in the form to the nearest division office before 5 pm on October 20 for verification of the form.
