Maharashtra Private Medical College Fee Revision: SMBT MBBS fee cut by Rs 81,500, others see hikes

Maharashtra revises fees for another batch of private medical colleges; SMBT MBBS fee cut, Terna, Kashibai Navale see hikes.
Revising MBBS and MD/MS tuition fees across another set of institutions, Maharashtra has announced a second tranche of fee revisions for private medical colleges for the 2026-27 academic session. As compared to the first round, the latest revision includes both increases and a reduction in MBBS fees.
According to the revised fee structure, SMBT Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Igatpuri, is the only college to witness a reduction in MBBS fees. Its annual MBBS tuition fee has been reduced by Rs 81,500, from Rs 13.09 lakh in 2025-26 to Rs 12.28 lakh in 2026-27. The institute's MD/MS fee has increased sharply by Rs 1.96 lakh to Rs 18.30 lakh.
Terna Medical College and Hospital, Navi Mumbai, recorded a hike of Rs 75,000. Smt Kashibai Navale Medical College, Pune, increased annual MBBS fee by Rs 70,000. Dr Rajendra Gode Medical College, Amravati, raised its MBBS fee by Rs 81,000, whereas Parbhani Medical College recorded only a marginal increase of Rs 1,000.

MIMER Medical College, Talegaon Dabhade; K J Somaiya Medical College and Research Centre, Mumbai; Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences; ACPM Medical College, Dhule; Sanjeevan Medical College, Miraj; Dr Ulhas Patil Medical College, Jalgaon; and JIIU's Indian Institute of Medical Sciences Research, Badnapur are colleges for which only the 2026-27 approved fee has been notified, with no corresponding 2025-26 figures available for comparison.

For postgraduate admissions, the fee revisions also vary across institutions. SMBT Institute recorded the highest increase in MD/MS fees among colleges where comparative data is available, followed by Smt Kashibai Navale Medical College.

First tranche highlights
Earlier this month, Maharashtra had revised the fee structure for another set of private medical colleges for 2026-27. The earlier revision also covered postgraduate and super-speciality programmes. NKP Salve's MD fee increased from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 10.08 lakh, while its NEET SS annual tuition fee rose by Rs 1.48 lakh to Rs 13.84 lakh.
Admissions to MBBS programmes in Maharashtra are based on NEET UG scores. The counselling is conducted through State CET Cell for 85 per cent state quota and Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the 15 per cent All India Quota.
