Maharashtra replaces BA, BSc-BEd with ITEP starting 2025-26 session

MAH CET 2025 BA, BSc-BEd Cancelled: The course has been replaced with ITEP, requiring candidates to qualify NCET.
NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced the discontinuation of the four-year BA, BSc-BEd (Integrated) course from the academic year 2025-26. In line with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) guidelines, the Maharashtra four-year BA, BSc-BEd course will be replaced by the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), a teacher training programme.
As per the Maharashtra CET Cell, candidates aspiring for ITEP will be required to appear for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) and and state-level entrance exam for BA, BSc-BEd has been scrapped. The NCET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) .
Refund for registered candidates
As per the official notice, registered candidates for MAH BA, BSc-BEd CET will receive a refund of their application fees. The MAH CET 2025 fee amount will be credited to the same bank account used during registration.
The NCTE is set to reintroduce one-year BEd and MEd programmes. If its draft policy gets approval, institutions will be permitted to convert their existing two-year full-time BEd and MEd courses.
The regulatory body has released draft regulations for these programs and invited public feedback. The one-year BEd programme will consist of two semesters, incorporating school internships, field-based experiences, practice teaching, and academic coursework.
NCET 2025 registration
The NCET 2025 registration process has already commenced from February 20. The NCET 2025 registration deadline is March 16. According to NTA, the NCET 2025 exam will be conducted in 178 cities. The NCET 2025 registration form can be filled on the official website, exams.nta.ac.in/NCET/.
According to the NTA schedule, the NCET 2025 form correction facility will be available from March 18 t0 19. The NCET city slip 2025 will be available in the first week of April 2025. The NCET 2025 admit card will be issued 3 days before the exam.
NTA NCET 2025 exam
The NCET 2025 exam date is April 29. The NTA NCET 2025 exam will be conducted in online mode. The exam will be conducted in two shifts. There will be a total of 181 questions, out of which candidates will have to attempt 160. The NCET 2025 exam will be held in 13 languages- Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Candidates will get 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for wrong answer.
