MAHE takes over Srishti, to start new medical college in Jharkhand

NEW DELHI: The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is taking over the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, pro-chancellor H S Ballal confirmed in a virtual conference conducted on Tuesday. The university is also coming up with a fully functional medical college in Jamshedpur.
The university which was declared an Institution of Eminence (IoE) recently unveiled its roadmap. Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology which was a part of Bangalore University will now be a constituent unit of MAHE, a part of its Bangalore campus at Yelahanka. That campus in Bengaluru is expected to be fully functional by the 2022-23 academic year.
All universities have been shut for months due to COVID-19. Narayana Sabhahit, registrar, said students will be allowed back into the campus in a phased manner.
New campus, medical college
The new campus of the university at Yelahanka campus will house a number of institutes.
“ Our institution of regenerative medicine which will be located there, we will have Srishti school of design and also we are looking at building a new engineering college,” said Ballal. “We are also planning to establish a law college. Also, some centres of excellence which are functioning in Bengaluru will be located there, especially in the fields of management and executive education.”
The university is also planning to start its medical college with TATA Steel Ltd in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand from 2021 with 150 students with 35 seats given to the Jharkhand Government.
