Marathwada University professor joins as Tripura University VC

NEW DELHI, JULY 17:
Dr V L Dharurkar has joined as the full-time Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, he has succeeded Prof Anjan Kumar Ghosh. Dr Dharurkar has stressed on the need for the more pro-active role of the Central University in the nation-building process.
Dr Dharurkar was appointed as the Tripura University last week by the President of India. Prior to his appointment, Dharurkar was serving as the Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in Aurangabad.
Speaking to reporters after his appointment, Dr Dharurkar said, “We shall do everything to increase the pride of this university and turn it into a centre of excellence for higher education. I am confident Tripura University will lead the entire Northeast in higher education.”
The new VC talking about his priorities during his welcome speech said that his vision is to make the institution more productive in relation to academic excellence, especially in research and equal distribution of knowledge as well as a meaningful contribution to societal uplift as a whole.
