MBA admission at IIMs: Process, Placement, and Expected CAT 2021 cutoff

NEW DELHI- Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad is the exam conducting body for CAT 2021. There are 20 IIMs in India that accept the score of the Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission to various management programmes. Over 2 lakh candidates will be appearing for CAT 2021 on November 28. For MBA admission at IIMs, candidates will have to secure a percentile between 95-99+ in CAT exam 2021 and also meet the cut off varies for all the IIMs.

Candidates meeting the CAT 2021 cut off will be shortlisted and called for further IIM selection rounds such as Written Ability Test (WAT), and Personal Interview (PI). After the conduct of the CAT 2021 exam, IIMs will release their admission criteria. Based on these criteria and the performance of the candidates in the selection rounds, the final MBA admission will be granted.

IIM Admission: Stages and selection process

The IIM admission process is divided into three stages. Go through the following stages to get a brief understanding about IIM admission procedure.

Stage 1- Candidates will be shortlisted based on their CAT exam score

After the announcement of CAT 2021 results, candidates who meet the required cut off score of the respective institute will have to apply on the IIM official website in order to participate in WAT/ GD- PI rounds. The shortlisted candidates will have to login through their name and CAT score..

Stage 2: Screening of candidates for WAT/GD-PI

The candidates shortlisted based on the cut off score will have to go through three selection rounds namely Written ability test, Group discussion, and Personal Interview.

Stage 3- Final selection

Candidates who qualify all three levels and are meeting other parameters along with a good composite score will be granted MBA admission to the IIMs.

Each IIM has its own set of placement procedures. Almost all IIMs witness 100% placement every year. The highest domestic CTC offered at IIMs placement last year was 50 lakhs.
