New Delhi, April 18: In a bid to promote Indian higher education among international students, the HRD ministry has launched a separate portal carrying relevant information and listing of colleges and courses available for foreign students in India.
The portal was launched by the Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in the presence of Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar.
According to the HRD ministry, “the portal will enable students from 30 countries across South Asia, Africa, CIS and the Middle East to select and apply for different courses from 150 select Indian institutions which are high on NAAC and NIRF ranking.”
The portal carries information on the various aspects of study options in India including ways to plan study in India, fee waivers and concessions as well as various stay options in India. Though an exhaustive list of education levels and courses including Engineering, Arts and Science, Law, Fashion and education to name a few are covered in the portal, there is no mention of the MBBS programmes offered by the various Indian medical colleges. This despite the MBBS programmes being one of the most sought-after options for Non-Resident Indians.
The list on the portal presently consists of 54 undergraduate programmes and 58 postgraduate programmes. The ministry officials said that more courses and colleges will gradually be added to the list.
Careers360 also caters to the information needs of students aspiring for study abroad options. The study abroad portal of Careers360 offers comprehensive information and insights for study options in India for international students.
