The state higher and technical education minister Chandrakant Patil announced the changes in the CAP admission process ahead of the MHT CET result 2025 declaration. The official government order was issued today.
Notably, the official government resolution (GR) comes days before the MHT CET CAP counselling 2025. Seats in the Maharashtra professional colleges will be filled by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell) based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the MHT CET results.
Expansion of the CAP admission process is one among the major changes introduced by the state government for the academic year 2025-26. The government has also given approval for increasing the fees for management and NRI quota seats in professional colleges offering engineering, agriculture, pharmacy, architecture, technology, and other courses.
According to the revised fee structure, all professional colleges in Maharashtra will be allowed to hike the management quota fee by three times, and NRI quota seats by five times. Patil also stated that the state government is planning to conduct the MHT CET entrance exam only in Maharashtra to prevent irregularities and malpractices.
The Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department has amended the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission to the Full Time Professional Undergraduate, Post Graduate, Integrated or Dual Degree Technical Courses) Rules, 2024.
There will be four rounds of CAP admission counselling instead of three. Candidates will be allowed to register and fill choices once the counselling process begins.
If a candidate is allotted the seat as per his or her first three and six preferences, in round 2 and 3, such allotment will be finalised. Candidates are required to accept the allotment and will not be eligible to participate in the subsequent rounds.
Candidates who are not allotted seats as per their first three or six preferences, but accepted the allotted seat will be eligible to participate in the fourth round for upgradation.
If a candidate cancels the admission offer before the specified deadline, the full fees paid will be refunded by the competent authority after deducting Rs 1,000 processing fee.
“The Institute shall refund the entire fees to the candidate after deduction of rupees one thousand only towards processing charges and return all his original documents submitted to the Institute within two days from submission of duly signed copy of system generated application to the Institute,” it said.
Candidates will not be entitled to any refund, except for the security deposit and caution money, if the seat allotment is cancelled after the deadline.
