BCI allows Maharashtra law colleges to proceed with MHT CET CAP admission 2026-27 under 'conditional approval'

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has granted one-time 'conditional approval’ to BCI-recognised Maharashtra law colleges to proceed with the MHT CET CAP law admission process for the academic year 2026-27, under the condition that the affiliation of the concerned university is valid.

Maharashtra State CET Cell conducts the MHT CET Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for admission 2026-27 to law colleges. The MHT CET CAP 2026 3-year and 5-year LLB round 1 college-option filling deadline has been extended till today, August 11.

The MHT CET CAP 2026 law round 1 seat allotment result will be announced on August 17. Students will be able to check the MHT CET 2026 seat allotment results on the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org.

As per the BCI, every law college has to submit required documents, pay the entire applicable BCI fees and dues, including course and approval fee, inspection or continuation fee, regularisation fee, late fee, default fee and any other amount lawfully payable.

BCI approval deadline for law colleges

BCI has extended the deadline for existing law colleges, Centres of Legal Education (CLEs), to complete and submit their applications for renewal of affiliation approval for the 2026-27 academic year to August 31.

This one-time extension comes after multiple universities and law colleges requested extra time, citing delays in receiving affiliation orders, administrative hurdles, and technical difficulties.

However, if colleges fail to complete the BCI approval process before the deadline, or if there is non-payment of applicable fees or dues, absence of valid university affiliation, incorrect particulars, or any other non-compliance, BCI will withhold, modify, suspend, or withdraw the conditional approval, and take appropriate action in accordance with law.

Furthermore, the existing CLEs that have not yet registered for the approval facility can request a registration link only by sending an email to cle@barcouncilofindia.org, dlebci@gmail.com, and bciinfo21@mail.com.
