MHT CET Counselling 2026: 82% seats filled across 387 colleges; admissions up by 15,181 this year

MHT CET Counselling 2026: A total of 2,51,726 candidates registered for engineering courses, while 1,81,927 students completed admission for the 2026-27 session.

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell conducted four rounds of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) followed by an institutional round for engineering admissions this year. After all the rounds, a total of 1,81,927 students have secured admission to engineering courses for the 2026-27 academic year, marking an increase of 15,181 admissions compared to the previous year.

In 2025-26, a total of 1,66,746 students had taken admission to engineering courses in the state.

According to the MHT CET 2026 counselling data, 2,21,646 engineering seats were available across 387 colleges affiliated to 17 universities in Maharashtra. These Maharashtra colleges offered 111 engineering courses, with the available seats including the management quota.

Of the total available seats, 2,03,293 seats were part of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP). After the CAP and institutional rounds, 1,81,927 students had taken admission.

MHT CET Counselling 2026: Round-wise admissions

The first four rounds of the Centralised Admission Process recorded a total of 1,40,554 admissions. The institutional CAP (ACAP) round recorded 27,472 admissions, while 13,473 students secured admission through the management quota round. Another 189 students were admitted under the Jammu and Kashmir and AICTE quota. The round-wise and quota-wise admission figures are as follows:

After completion of the four CAP rounds and the institutional round, 29,042 engineering seats remained vacant in Maharashtra. Of these, 26,682 seats were vacant from the ACAP seats, while 2,360 seats remained vacant under the management quota.

Online registration for engineering admissions in Maharashtra began on July 2, 2026, and ended on July 19, 2026. A total of 2,51,726 students registered for the admission process this year.
