MP medical colleges to be named after BJP leaders, says CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan

NEEMUCH: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday announced that medical colleges in Neemuch, Mandsaur and Ratlam will be named after late Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Virendra Kumar Saklecha, Sunderlal Patwa and Laxminarayan Pandey.

Saklecha and Patwa are former chief ministers of the state while Pandey was elected from Mandsaur Lok Sabha seat on eight occasions. Chouhan was addressing the 8th Employment Day function, during which he also laid the foundation stone of Neemuch Medical College.

It will be constructed at a cost of Rs 255.78 crore on 9.745 hectare land and will have 150 MBBS seats, an official said. Chouhan also laid the foundation stone of the Rs 1798 crore Gandhi Sagar Group Water Supply Scheme, which will benefit 1.70 lakh families in 915 villages.

The chief minister on the occasion distributed loans to 2,03,176 youths to help them set up ventures to generate employment. The state government's 'Ladli Behna Scheme' will empower women financially, he said. From April 1, 'ahatas' (place to sit for consuming liquor near wine shops) will be closed in the state, the CM said on the occasion.
