Mumbai University postpones winter exams again due to Zilla Parishad elections; opens PhD admissions 2026

MU PhD Admissions 2026: Applications for the Department of Physics will be accepted until February 5. Winter exams for all paper will be conducted from February 17.
University of Mumbai has postponed its winter 2025 exams for the second time due to Zilla Parishad elections in Maharashtra. All papers postponed earlier will now be conducted on February 17, 18, and 20, the university said.
Mumbai University has also opened PhD admissions in the Department of Physics for the 2025-26 academic year.
In a circular issued by Pooja Raundale, director board of examination and evaluation, all winter exams 2025 that earlier postponed due to municipal corporation elections have now been rescheduled again following the Zilla Parishad elections in the state.
The revised exam dates apply to all papers across faculties, including science, arts, commerce, engineering, pharmacy, and law. Additionally, an exam scheduled for February 7 has been postponed to February. The university further clarified that the exam timings will remain unchanged.

Mumbai University PhD Admission 2026
In a separate notice, Mumbai University announced the opening of MU PhD admissions 2026 for the Department of Physics.
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are required to submit their applications on plain paper, along with personal and academic details, email ID, and mobile number. Relevant documents, including PET, NET, SET, GATE qualification certificates, MSc Physics degree should be submitted.
The completed application form should be addressed to the Head, Department of Physics, University of Mumbai, Tilak Bhavan, Vidyanagari, Mumbai. The last date for submission of applications, with Rs 100 as admission processing fee, is February 5.
Students will be shortlisted based on their performance in an interview round conducted by the department. Schedule and admission criteria will be announced in due course, the university said.
