NIT Roukela records 1,340 offers in 2025-26; B.Tech placement rate at 95.47%

Students at NIT Rourkela secure packages up to Rs 131 LPA, while 258 summer internships and 365 six-month internship offers are recorded

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Roukela has recorded 1,340 placement offers across its academic programmes during the 2025-26 placement season. Students also received 365 six-month internship offers, which could lead to Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) after they complete their internships.

The institute also reported a record 258 summer internship offers for pre-final students, the highest in its history. These internships are expected to create more opportunities for PPOs in the next placement season.

For B.Tech students, the placement rate stood at 95.47%. The highest package reached Rs 131 lakh per annum (LPA), while the average package was Rs 15.33 LPA and the median stood at Rs 12.50 LPA.

BTech placement crosses 95%

All registered students in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering secured placement opportunities.

Six other programmes such as Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Industrial Design, and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering also recorded placement rates of more than 90%.

Computer Science and Engineering students recorded the second-highest B.Tech package at Rs 83.60 LPA, after the overall highest CTC of Rs 131 LPA.

MTech placement highest package

M.Tech students also recorded strong placement figures. The highest CTC was Rs 46.30 LPA for a Computer Science and ENgineering student, while the Electronics and Communication Engineering branch recorded the next-highest package of Rs 44 LPA.

The average M.Tech CTC was Rs 11.90 LPA and the median was Rs 9 LPA. During the internship season, the highest stipend reached Rs 1.50 lakh per month. More than 83 students also secured annual packages above Rs 30 LPA.

Placement drive sees 374 recruiters

A total of 375 recruiters took part in the 2025-26 placement drive, with around half participating for the first time. The Software and IT Services sector had the largest share of recruiters, followed by Manufacturing, BFSI, Electronics, and Education.

Core sector accounts for 41.69% offers

Surajit Das, Head, Career Development Centre (CDC), NIT Rourkela, said the core sector accounted for the largest share of job offers at 41.69%. Software & IT followed with 17.79%, while Power and Heavy accounted for 13.77% and BFSI for 11.52%.

Analytics and Consulting contributed 9.5% of the offers, followed by Electronics, Semiconductor and VLSI at 8.40%, Education at 7.23%, Manufacturing at 8.09%, and Oil and Gas at 7.86%. The remaining offers came from sectors including Aerospace, Automobile, Biotechnology, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Robotics, and Telecommunication.

The placement drive included roles such as Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Data Analyst, and Business Analyst.
