Why the number of NEET 2020 registrations increased?

The major reason behind the increase in the number of registered candidates is merging the admission of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education (PGIMER) through NEET scores. On October 4, 2019, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, had taken a decision that 1205 AIIMS and 200 JIPMER MBBS seats will be granted through NEET from 2020 onwards.

And since both AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS entrance examination have been scrabbed, the increase in the number of NEET registrations have been expected since the beginning NEET will be held for admission to 82,926 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH and 525 BVSc & AH offered in colleges of India.
