NEW DELHI: As there is no announcement on the postponement of the medical entrance exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical admission on August 1, 2021. The NEET application form 2021 which was expected to be released by April has not been out yet.

Meanwhile, several students are demanding authorities to postpone the NEET exam due to rising COVID-19 cases. However, some NEET aspirants are requesting authorities to conduct NEET 2021 as per schedule and release the application form soon.

According to NEET UG 2021 latest news today, the chances of NEET exam getting postponed are highly likely as many states have postponed the Class 12 board exams till June 1, after the CBSE announced the postponement of the exams.

NEET 2021 has been in news since last year as there were no timely updates on the NEET 2021 dates, exam pattern or syllabus. The NEET-UG registration which usually commences in December has not started yet. Additionally, there were chances of NEET 2021 being conducted twice. However, the NTA dismissed all rumours through its notice on March 12, which stated that NEET 2021 will be conducted only once. After much delay, the NTA released the NEET UG exam date on March 12 at ntaneet.nic.in. As per the notice, NEET 2021 will be conducted on August 1 in an offline mode across the country. Check the notice below.

NEET 2021 postponement

Though NTA has scheduled to conduct NEET 2021 on August 1, there are high chances of the exam getting postponed. As per NEET 2021 latest news today, many boards have postponed the Class 12 board exams till June 1. The authorities will review the situation on June 1, 2021, and a 15 day notice will be given before the start of the exam. This clearly indicates that the CBSE board exams will be concluded by the end of July. Thus, increasing the chances of NEET 2021 postponement.

The Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, tweeted saying, “The Board exams for Class XIIth to be held from May 4 to June 14, 2021, are hereby postponed. These exams will be held hereafter. The situation will be reviewed on 1 June 2021 by the Board, and details will be shared subsequently. A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations.”

Additionally, several states such as Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha have postponed their Class 12 board exams due to rising COVID-19 cases across the country.

NEET 2021 application form date by NTA

Ever since the announcement of the NEET exam date, candidates have been waiting for the release of the application form. NTA in its notice titled “Conduct of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2021” said that information bulletin will be available shortly at ntaneet.nic.in regarding the submission of the NEET 2021 application form. However, since then, no notification on NEET registration 2021 has been issued. Candidates have been demanding the authorities to start the NEET registration soon.

NEET UG syllabus

The syllabus of NEET 2021 is based on Class 11 and 12 CBSE and other state boards’ syllabus. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the syllabus of Class 11 and 12 was reduced. Students were concerned about the impact of the reduced syllabus on NEET 2021 exam. However, the ministry of education clarified saying the NEET 2021 syllabus will remain unchanged. However, students will be given more options to answer questions in the NEET exam.

NEET exam pattern

According to previous years’ NEET UG exam pattern, the medical entrance test will consist of 180 multiple choice questions based on Class 11 and 12 curricula. There will be three sections in NEET 2021 question paper - physics, chemistry and biology. As per the notification by the ministry of education, candidates will be given options to answer questions in the exam as on the lines of JEE. Thus, it is expected that NEET question paper 2021 might have some optional questions to answer. There were also rumours that NEET exam will be conducted in an online mode this year. However, NTA has confirmed that NEET 2021 will be conducted in a pen-paper mode across the country.
