NEET 2026: Over 2 lakh personnel, observers deployed; 674 city coordinators, police to oversee operations

NEET 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct NEET 2026 across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad, at over 5,432 centres. The testing agency has ensured strict exam security and deployed more than 6,000 observers and 674 city coordinators overseeing city-level operations.

The NEET 206 exam process is supported by centre superintendents and invigilators at every exam hall.

Additionally, active assistance will be provided by district administrations, police forces, and escort teams, particularly to ensure the secure transportation of confidential materials.

Facilities at NEET Exam Centres 2026

According to the latest NTA press release, due to the large number of candidates appearing for the exam, it has ensured reliable power back-up, including generators, at all the exam centres.

To make students comfortable, as the exam will be held in the afternoon shift and keeping in mind the prevailing summer conditions, adequate electricity, lighting and fans have been put across all exam halls.

Notably, drinking water and sanitation facilities and on-site medical support will be provided to students.

Also, diabetic students are permitted to carry sugar tablets and fruits (banana, apple, orange) with a transparent water bottle, as per the NTA guidelines.

NEET UG 2026 Security Measures

NEET 2026 will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm, and physically disabled candidates will be given compensatory time to complete their exam.

The testing agency has put a multi-layered security framework to ensure a fair and transparent exam. Also, end-to-end secure handling of confidential materials will be done at designated exam centres under sealed protocols. The other steps taken to ensure security at all centres ahead of the NEET 2026 are listed below.

• GPS-enabled vehicles with police escort for the movement of exam materials
• CCTV surveillance at all examination centres, with feeds linked to centralised control rooms
• Mandatory frisking through high-sensitivity metal detectors before entry, with strengthened manpower and equipment at every centre
• Aadhaar-based biometric authentication to prevent impersonation
• Real-time monitoring through centralised control systems

As per the NEET reporting time, candidates must reach the exam centres between 11 am and 1:30 pm to avoid any last-minute rush.

NEET 2026: NTA biometric verification exceptions

As per the NTA’s advisory, if a candidate’s biometric verification cannot be completed at the exam centre, due to device malfunction, poor fingerprint quality, connectivity issues with UIDAI, or any physical limitation, they will still be allowed to enter the exam hall.

However, in such cases, the students must sign a written undertaking (format available at the centre with the superintendent or observer) and will then be permitted to take the exam without interruption during the scheduled time.

The candidate’s identity will instead be verified manually using valid documents.

Students appearing for NEET 2026 wearing customary or religious attire and wearing full sleeves or woollens are advised to report early to allow time for thorough frisking and security checks.
