Try NowNEW DELHI: The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) counselling 2024 for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will be notified on the basis of exam completion and finalisation of seat matrix by the National Medical Commission (NMC), the union health ministry informed today. The health and family welfare department clarified that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has not yet notified the NEET UG, PG counselling schedule 2024 for the upcoming academic session.
The centre’s clarification comes after news reports claimed that NEET UG counselling 2024 has been postponed. Earlier today, the ministry of health clarified that such news reports are incorrect as the NEET counselling schedule has not been announced yet.
“The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has not yet notified the counselling schedule of NEET UG and PG courses for the year 2024,” said the health ministry in an official statement.
The union health ministry explained that the counselling schedule for NEET UG and PG is announced by MCC on its website on the basis of completion of the exam process and finalization of seat matrix by NMC. In the years 2021, 2022 and 2023, the UG counselling for MBBS, BDS admissions commenced on January 19, 2022, October 11, 2022, and July 20, 2023 respectively, it informed.
The union health department further said that for the year 2024, NMC has communicated its schedule for finalisation of the seat matrix for UG and PG seats in the last week of June indicating that it will finalise the UG seat matrix by third week of July and PG seat matrix by mid-August. MCC will notify the NEET counselling schedule accordingly.
