The MCC has also introduced several reforms in the NEET UG counselling to make the admission process more transparent and efficient for candidates.
As per the MCC’s new guidelines on NEET UG counselling 2026, candidates who will be allotted medical colleges and opted for seat upgradation in subsequent rounds will no longer have to physically report to their allotted institutes.
Instead, the upgrade process in MBBS counselling will be held online and candidates will only be needed to report physically to their allotted colleges after accepting their final allotted seat.
Moreover, candidates who wish to resign from an allotted seat can now complete the resignation process online through the MCC portal at mcc.nic.in.
The MCC NEET counselling 2026 will admit candidates for MBBS, BDS and other UG medical programmes under the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), 100% central and deemed universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC institutions and AFMC.
The remaining 85% state quota seats in government medical colleges and admissions to most private medical colleges are held by the respective state counselling authorities.
According to the MCC seat matrix, there are around 1.37 lakh MBBS seats across government, and private medical colleges for nearly 11.21 NEET-qualified candidates.
