Now that the NEET exam 2025 is over, students shift their focus to NEET results and counselling process. While, NEET cut-off 2025 is yet to be announced, last year’s opening and closing rank details may give the aspirants an idea about their admission chances in the top 20 government medical colleges in India .
As per the last year’s NEET cut-off data, AIIMS New Delhi retained its top position by admitting general category students only within the first 50 ranks. Newly rising institutes like AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Rishikesh, and AIIMS Bhopal are becoming strong contenders, by offering admissions to NEET AIQ rank holders. These institutes have also improved their NIRF rankings published by the ministry of education (MoE).
The NEET UG cut-off 2025 for OBC and EWS categories showed an increase in competition last year. On the other hand, the NEET AIQ cut-offs for SC and ST varied significantly across different colleges and regions.

Good marks in NEET 2025 for AIIMS
Candidates aiming for AIIMS New Delhi — ranked number one medical college in India — will typically need a rank within the top 50. For other top AIIMS campuses and Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, scoring a rank in range under All India Rank (AIR) 200 - 300 is essential.
Students expecting slightly lower marks still can get admission in institutions like Madras Medical College and KGMU Lucknow, which accept NEET rank within the 500–3000 range. NEET cut-offs for OBC, EWS, SC, and ST varies for different medical colleges.

The NEET opening and closing rank highlights the range at which a government medical college has admitted students for its MBBS programme under the All India Quota (AIQ). Candidates can check the category-wise NEET MBBS cut-off for General, OBC, EWS, SC, and ST in India’s top 20 government medical colleges.
