Registrations for the Tamil Nadu NEET UG 2025 counselling has begun. Candidates who have qualified the NEET 2025 exam will be eligible to apply for the 85% seats under the state quota counselling. Christian Medical College, Vellore; Madras Medical College; Stanley Medical College, Chennai have been the popular choices of NEET toppers.
Tamil Nadu has the highest number of 38 government medical colleges in India, offering a total of 5,275 MBBS seats. The state also recorded the fifth-highest number of registrations among the 20.7 lakh candidates who appeared for the NEET UG 2025 this year. NEET cut-offs have seen a sharp dip for MBBS admissions over the past two years.
Students will be competing for 11,650 MBBS seats — of which 5,275 are in government colleges and 6,375 MBBS seats in private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu. The total number of MBBS seats in India is 1,18,190, as per the ministry of health and family welfare.
The selection committee of the Directorate Of Medical Education and Research will conduct the Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling 2025 for 85% state quota seats in government medical colleges, and 100% seats in private and deemed universities.
