NEET MDS 2021: Plea in Supreme Court against delay in counselling process
The postgraduate dental exam results were declared last year on December 31, 2020. However, the counselling has been delayed for months. The petitioners, therefore, demand to conduct a separate counselling session for NEET MDS 2021 at the earliest.

New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding an "unjust and infinite delay caused by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in the commencement of the counselling for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and Masters of Dental Surgery, or NEET-MDS 2021” Bar and Bench reported.
The plea filed through Advocates Tanvi Dubey and Charu Mathur said: "Umpteen efforts were made by the petitioners to get in touch with the respondents in order to get an idea about the schedule of the counselling, however, till today there has been no update, regarding the counselling."
NEET MDS 2022 was conducted on December 16, 2020, and the results were declared on December 31, 2020. However, the counselling for NEET MDS 2021 has not even started even after months.
Demanding NEET MDS counselling to be conducted at the earliest
The counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate, or NEET PG and NEET MDS 2021 is conducted together by the MCC. And since the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has postponed the NEET PG entrance exam until August, the decision will cause further delay in the NEET MDS counselling process.
The petitioners are therefore asking to conduct the NEET MDS 2021 at the earliest and not wait for NEET PG to be conducted first. Additionally, the plea further stated to conduct separate counselling for the NEET-MDS 2021.
"From the past years' records, it is clear that the time duration between the NEET-PG examination and announcement of result is at least one (1) month. Further, the counselling schedule for NEET-PG is released three (3) months after the results. Therefore, it will be unrealistic to organise the counselling for both the examinations together, as it would infinitely delay the counselling for the NEET-MDS candidates and would cause undue hardship to the NEET-MDS aspirants," the plea stated.
NEET MDS 2021 counselling will be conducted for admission to 50% AIQ, all seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC and AFMS institutes.
