New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear the plea challenging the delay in the counselling process of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and Masters of Dental Surgery, or NEET-MDS, by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on July 2, 2021. The exam for NEET MDS was conducted last year on December 16 and the results were announced on December 31, 2021. However, the counselling process for the postgraduate dental exam has been delayed ever since.
The matter came into light after Advocates Tanvi Dubey and Charu Mathur filed a petition on SC against NEET MDS 2021 counselling process stating it as an “unjust and infinite delay caused by MCC”.
"The petition reflects the names of 10,000 signatories of an online petition aggrieved with the same cause"- India TV reported.
“Unrealistic to conduct NEET PG & NEET MDS counselling together”: says the petitioners
One of the major reasons for the delay in the NEET MDS counselling 2021 is the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate, or NEET PG entrance exam.
The counselling for both entrance exams are conducted by MCC together, however, since the second COVID-19 wave hit the country, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) had to postpone NEET PG 2021 until August, which caused further delay in the NEET MDS counselling process. Considering this, the petitioners are asking to conduct separate counselling for the NEET-MDS 2021 at the earliest and not wait for NEET PG to be conducted first.
NEET MDS 2021 counselling will be conducted for admission to 50% AIQ, all seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC and AFMS institutes.
