NEET PG 2021 Counselling: DGHS urged to remove state candidates from AIQ mop-up round

NEW DELHI: Some National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) PG aspirants have written to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) complaining against state candidates who have allegedly registered and filled choices in NEET PG 2021 counselling mop-up round for 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats despite clear guidelines of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

The aspirants asked the DGHS to provide relief to the candidates who have so far followed all the rules and guidelines issued by the authorities by strictly asking the states for the list of their joined candidates and allowing MCC to scrutinize these candidates and remove them from the provisional result of mop-up round before publishing it.

“With all due respect we would like to bring forward the following points that clearly mention and provide that such an activity accounts to deliberate seat blocking,” the letter said while referring to the advisory and notification of MCC regarding eligibility to participate in mop-up round.

The latest MCC notification makes it clear that all the state counseling joined candidates are ineligible to register and participate in NEET PG 2021 counselling mop-up round. Candidates who have joined the allotted seats in Round 2 and further rounds of NEET PG 2021 counseling will not be allowed to resign and will also be ineligible to take part in further rounds.

“In spite of this, many state joined candidates have registered, participated in AIQ mop-up round counseling and filled their choices to avail a seat through AIQ despite ineligibility to participate as they already have reported and joined their seats. Thus leading to deliberate seat blocking,” the candidates alleged.

States allowing resignation, free exit

According to the letter, states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal etc. have issued the same advisory as MCC and have implemented the same. However, states like Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat are allegedly not following the MCC advisory by allowing resignation and free exit to already joined candidates and releasing their documents even after choice-locking and registration, for mop-up round.

“Sir, due to these the students who have so far followed all the rules and belong to states implementing guidelines as per the MCC complain of gross injustice and selective favoritism to the candidates of state quota who are not following the guidelines,” the NEET PG aspirants argued.

“With all due respect, we request you to kindly take strict actions, deemed as necessary by the authorities to set an example and prevent further such events from happening,” the aspirants demanded.
